As a lot of states and businesses look at re-opening, including the hotel I work for, I’ve done a lot of research and thinking of how the travel experience will change post-COVID-19.
Thank you to all of you who participated in my mini-survey yesterday. Though I may not have all the answers, there are a few things that are clear:
🌎People are yearning to travel again, both domestically and internationally.
🏞A lot of people are turning to nature – whether that is because we have been under quarantine or because summer is around the corner, we all seem to be looking forward to spending more time outside.
😷🌡 The majority is okay with the new safety precautions – mask requirements, temperature checks, etc.
Lastly, people do believe that contactless hospitality can still be hospitable. That will be my next challenge as I prepare my team for our “new normal”. Regardless of views or opinions, the one thing that I want everyone to take away is that your next travel experience is going to be different. The warm smile you have come to expect may be behind a mask. Some features may not be available at all (think buffet dining or pools). A little more may be asked of you as the guest/passenger to ensure your safety and that of others. Just remember to be patient, as we are all adjusting to a new way of travel.
